CAMGEW promotes participatory approach in Oku Community forest management by engaging local groups in apiculture to create jobs, raise money through marketing of harvested white honey and protect the forest. CAMGEW does training on apiculture and beehive construction, colonisation and mounting in forest. CAMGEW has trained more than 150 members representing groups in Oku. The training workshop involves principles of bee farming in lecture hall and practical activities on beehive construction, honey havesting and honey processing. CAMGEW also construct, colonise, and mount bee hives in the forest for trained groups at subsidised cost.

CAMGEW constructed 200 beehives in 2012 that were on the process of colonisation for distribution to trained groups on bee farming. This will help them start bee farming. Ownership of bee hives by groups will help them protect the forest from degradation and ensure continuous benefit (income generation) from the forest. Oku white honey is already being considered as a Geographical Indication Product and it is hoped that the market for this honey will be secured. CAMGEW will work in partnership with local stakeholders in apiculture like the Oku Honey Cooperative. CAMGEW in a long run will sell honey produced by groups through the created CAMGEW Honey Cooperative.
